M40 stocks built for Quantico by Remington Custom Shop and later by Remington, McMillen and others. These are original and recently manufactured walnut stocks by Iron Brigade Armory, Quantico and Remington. These stocks have the correct Wichita sling studs. The 1-1/4 front stud is a direct machine thread screwed into a square stove bolt nut. Then proper epoxy is laid in the valley pouch on top of the original stove bolt nut. OD green sling is included with purchase. These stocks have the proper M40/40X metal butt plate attached to the stock with original style hardware.

Most of the stocks are sent to Retired Vietnam Sniper Team Leader Retired Lt. Colonel Norm Chandler and USMC 20 year Armorer Tiny Briggs, the leader in knowledge of the M40 history. Tiny and Norm check finish our new stocks to original specifications. If not in stock, please allow time after purchase for this service.

The original M40 stocks were made with the high cheek risers, but snipers in Vietnam found the high cheek riser would not let them properly align with the low Redfield scope mounts. So they rushed them to a Da Nang armorers shop to have the cheek rest planed and sanded down to a flat top. This continued until Quantico started using high rise Redfield scope mounts.Then the sporter stocks were used as is.
